Kathleen Roth PT, DPT

Dr. Kathleen Roth, co-owner of Tier 1 Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, has been practicing physical therapy in El Paso, Texas for over 38 years. Kathleen graduated in 1984 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and later received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona.

Kathleen worked at Providence Memorial Hospital for 8 years, where she was the out-patient physical therapy department manager and also served as the clinical coordinator for the Providence TMJ and Facial Pain Center. After leaving hospital practice, she entered and has been in private practice for over 30 years, with specialty areas to include orthopedics, women’s health, and craniofacial pain/temporomandibular joint dysfunctions. She has served as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Texas at El Paso Physical Therapy Program for over 20 years. She is in her twentieth year of service as a Continuing Education Reviewer with the Texas Physical Therapy Association. She has been a keynote speaker on gender health issues and temporomandibular joint dysfunctions at local and state conferences.

Kathleen was the recipient of the Texas Physical Therapy Association’s two most esteemed awards. She was awarded the Ruby Decker Award in 2015 which honors one physical therapist in the state whose primary responsibility is in direct patient care and who contributes to the growth of the profession and community. That same year, she was awarded the Warren C. Smyth Award which is given to a physical therapist in private practice in recognition of professional, clinical, and educational expertise, innovative delivery of care, participation in the association, commitment to private practice, and community service.

Kathleen is active in the El Paso community. She has been an active volunteer with the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. She has been an active and sustaining member of the Junior League of El Paso. She had taught Sunday school for over eleven years and currently serves on the Women’s Guild of her church. Kathleen is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Texas Physical Therapy Association, and the Greater El Paso Physical Therapy Association.
